Mozart’s “Magic Flute” lands at EAGLE

EAGLE School was thrilled to have Opera for the Young return to perform their adaptation of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

For over 50 years, Opera for the Young has been bringing the classics to schools around the Midwest. The company reaches around 75,000 students each year and enhances their experience by including them directly in the production. This year, the 4/5 students took to the stage alongside the adult performers and were wonderful as the on and offstage chorus. The youngest EAGLE students also supported the production by displaying their dark or light planets, depending on where we were in the story. And in fact, the whole school was able to sing along at times thanks to the preparation of their music teachers.

It was an extra special visit as music teacher Rachel’s Mom is the artistic director and wrote the libretto (the words) to this intergalactic adaptation of the opera. We are thrilled that our students were exposed to this famous work, and to the magical world of opera!
