Music and Art

Music & Art are vibrant threads in the fabric of our school community. Through string ensembles, band, private lessons, and visual art opportunities, students discover the joy of creative expression and the discipline of artistic growth. They learn to listen deeply, collaborate with purpose, and share their talents with confidence and heart. Whether performing on stage, composing a new piece, or bringing ideas to life through paint and clay, students experience the power of the arts to connect, inspire, and transform—both within themselves and throughout our school.

The EAGLE Strings Program offers a comprehensive and inclusive music education experience for students of all ages and skill levels. The program provides both private lessons and ensemble classes in violin, viola, and cello. Private lessons are scheduled during QRT periods (study halls) or lunch/recess hours and are tailored to each student’s needs, covering everything from fundamental techniques to effective practice strategies. The program also offers various ensembles according to skill level; Lunchtime Strings, EAGLE Strings Orchestra and the Cello Ensemble all meet during the school day.

Band offers students the opportunity to begin playing a band instrument starting in fourth grade. Participants receive group instruction and also have the option to play in an ensemble. Two groups are available: a beginner band that meets during lunch on Fridays and an advanced band that rehearses after school on Mondays.

Vocal lessons are available for older students and can be scheduled before school, after school, during recess, or during QRT (Quiet Reading Time, i.e., study hall). Lessons focus on developing vocal technique, musical expression, and performance skills. Many students choose to participate in Wisconsin School Music Association events, and instruction is designed to support both individual growth and preparation for performances.

Piano lessons are offered during the school day at EAGLE and can take place before school, after school, during recess, or during QRT (Quiet Reading Time, i.e. study hall). Instruction follows a standard lesson format and progresses according to each student’s skill and experience. Many students who study piano choose to participate in Wisconsin School Music Association events, and lessons are structured to support both personal advancement and performance preparation.

Middle School Musical Theater is a hands-on, creative experience where students bring stories to life on stage. In this program, students design and build their own sets, costumes, and props, fully immersing themselves in every aspect of production. Sixth graders get to write and perform their own original musicals, while seventh and eighth graders tackle beloved, well-known shows. Performing for their school community, students develop teamwork, creativity, and confidence while discovering the joy and magic of theater.

The EAGLE Student Talent Show is an exciting showcase of creativity and skill, run entirely by the Student Council. Students perform a wide variety of acts, including dancing, singing, instrument playing, juggling, martial arts, comedy routines, gymnastics, and more. The show celebrates each student’s unique talents, encourages artistic expression, and brings the whole school community together for a fun and inspiring performance.

ScArt is a creative program that combines Science and Art through hands-on exploration. Students join EAGLE Science teacher, Sarah Wright, on nature walks, where they observe, write, draw, and document their experiences. The sessions provide time to connect with others who enjoy exploring and journaling, blending scientific curiosity with artistic expression. It’s Science, it’s Art, it’s ScArt!

The cookie decorating class focuses on basic techniques used to embellish sugar cookies with icing. Participants practice piping outlines, flooding surfaces, and adding decorative details such as patterns or textures. Instruction typically covers consistency of icing, use of decorating tools, and simple color application. Materials, such as prebaked cookies, icing, and tools, are supplied, and the decorated cookies are taken home at the end of the session.
