This fall, eight Wisconsin schools joined the Renew Our Schools Challenge, a five-week energy conservation competition focused on saving energy and making schools more efficient. We are proud to say that EAGLE School won the competition!
During the challenge, students used energy meters and other tools to identify where their schools might be wasting energy. With support from Focus on Energy and KEEP, Wisconsin’s K–12 Energy Education Program, they surveyed lighting, heating and cooling systems, and plug-in devices to find smart ways to cut back on energy use.
Along the way, students also dove into rich science learning – exploring microclimates, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, passive solar heating, and more. Students also created public service announcements and designed posters to encourage the whole school community to save energy. These efforts earned EAGLE significant points in the competition.
Congratulations to our 4th graders and science teacher Tim Tynan for their hard work, creativity, teamwork, and outstanding achievement!
